Club Westwood first opened its doors in 1967 with a celebration in a wooden cabin in Meer en Bosch. From the very beginning, the club attracted students and athletes from The Hague aged 18 and over. Its early success led to a move to a larger venue after only three months, and ever since, the discotheque has remained a defining presence in The Hague’s nightlife.

We were asked to reimagine Westwood with a renewed identity. One where clubbing remains at the heart of the experience, yet the space can effortlessly shift into a wedding venue or event location. The assignment called for a multidisciplinary approach, focusing on adaptability, atmosphere, and transformation. A modular bar and a separate, fully modular DJ booth together form the social and musical core of the venue. Both elements can be repositioned and reconfigured, allowing the space to transform and support a wide range of settings, moods, and events.

The interior is shaped by a palette of fresh materials, rich textures, and contrasting finishes that invite touch and movement. Layered lighting plays a central role in defining the experience throughout the night. An LED screen integrated into the ceiling becomes an immersive canvas, responding to the music and amplifying the atmosphere while reinforcing the theme of each event. A newly designed entrance creates a more intimate moment of arrival and intuitively guides visitors through the space, setting the tone from the very first step.
